Surya Puja held in Ishwardi in a festive atmosphere

The two-day Surya (Chhat) Puja of the Hindu community has concluded in Ishwardi in a festive atmosphere.

On Monday (November 20) in the morning and Sunday (November 19) in the afternoon, thousands of women and a large number of men from the Hindu community gathered to worship Sunya Dev in the pond of Ishwardi upazila square.

In the midst of all this, Surya Puja was held in Ishwardi with grandeur for a long time.
Before sunset on Sunday, especially the women of Abangali Hindus start this puja by wading in water up to their waists in ponds.

This puja continues till sunset. On Monday morning, before sunrise, women once again went down to the pond and worshiped Suryadev until sunrise.

A festive atmosphere prevailed among the Hindu community in Ishwardi on the occasion of Surya Puja.

Upazila Executive Officer Subir Kumar Das, former president of Press Club Swapan Kumar Kundu and other local prominent people were present.

There is no place for idol worship in Surya Puja. The setting and rising suns are worshipped.
