BCB announces Women’s Cricket squad for SA series

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Tuesday Bangladesh Women’s Cricket squad for the upcoming three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series and three-match One Day International (ODI) series against South Africa Women’s Cricket team at the different venues across South Africa.

Nigar Sultana has been named the Captain of the Bangladesh Women’s Cricket squad, while Nahida Akter will assist her as the Vice-Captain. All-rounder Lata Modal has returned to the squad.

Lata was not included in the squad against Pakistan series, which concluded recently. Sanjida Akter and Nishita Akter have been dropped from the squad. Sharifa Khatun, Fargana Haque, Sumaiya Akter, Disha Biswas have been retained their position.

Fariha Islam, Salma Khatun and Sathi Rani have not included in the squad.

Bangladesh Women’s Cricket squad will leave the city on November 25 for South Africa to play the T20I series and ODI series. The ODI series between Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team and South Africa Women’s Cricket team is a part of ICC Women’s ODI Championship.

Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team played against New Zealand, Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan as part of ICC Women’s ODI Championship. After playing 12 matches, Bangladesh recorded three victories.

Bangladesh will take on South Africa in the first T20I at Benoni on December 3, the Tigresses will face South Africa in the second T20I at Kimberley on December 6 and Bangladesh will meet South Africa in the third T20I at the same venue on December 8.

The Tigresses will take on South Africa in the first ODI at East London on December 16, Bangladesh will face South Africa in the second ODI at Potchefstroom on December 20, Bangladesh will meet South Africa in the third ODI at Benoni on December 23.

The cricketers, who have been chosen, are: Nigar Sultana (Captain), Nahida Akter (Vice-Captain), Shamima Sultana, Murshida Khatun, Sobhana Mostary, Fargana Haque, Lata Mondal, Shorna Akter, Ritu Moni, Sharifa Khatun, Sumaiya Akter, Rabeya Khan, Sultana Khatun, Fahima Khatun, Marufa Akter and Disha Biswas.
