Ishwardi artisans busy with making winter need

Autumn has passed and Hemant (late autumn) has come to nature. Hemant means forecast of winter. At the end of the night, the wind is cold, and the dew on the grass tips in the morning tells that winter is coming. Even though it is hot during the day, it feels very cold at night.
With the arrival of winter in Ishwardi, recognized as the gateway to the north, the activity of dhunkars (cloth-toshak artisans) has increased in cotton trimming and cotton-making. There is no time for plasterers to catch their breath. Some are breaking the old coating and making a new one. Others are making covers, mattresses and pillows with new cotton.
There are more than 10 textile shops in Alhaj Mor area of Ishwardi town. Work is going on every day from morning till night in every shop. The work of artisans in the shops is gradually increasing. Looking around the market, Shimul cotton is selling at Tk 650-700 per kg, Karpus cotton at Tk 310 to Tk 360 per kg, black wool at Tk 85 to Tk 90, black Rabish cotton at Tk 50 to Tk 60, white cotton at Tk 110 to Tk 130 per kg. With the increase in the price of cotton compared to last year, the price of cloth has also increased by Tk 10 to Tk 15 per yard.
The smugglers said that the cost of making each coating has increased by Tk 300 to Tk 400. A medium coating costs Rs 1,200 to 2,000. It costs 1,500 to 2,500 rupees to make a toshak.
However, the price of coating is more or less depending on the type of cotton, expensive and cheap.
