Uranium last shipment reaches Rooppur

The seventh i.e. the last batch of ‘Fresh Nuclear Fuel’ or Uranium Fuel of the first unit of Rooppur Nuclear Power Project has successfully reached Rooppur in Ishwardi from Dhaka under strict security. This shipment of uranium reached Rooppur project area from Dhaka via Bangabandhu Bridge, Bonpara in Natore and Dashuria in Ishwardi in Pabna.
On Friday (November 10) at around 7:35 am, the fleet of vehicles entered the project area and was welcomed by the project workers.
Rooppur project sources said that on Thursday (November 9), uranium reached Dhaka by special plane like the previous six shipments from Russia. Then today this consignment left Dhaka by road and successfully reached Rooppur in Ishwardi.
Arobindo Sarkar, OC of Ishwardi police station, said, “The last shipment of the first phase of uranium reached Rooppur at 7:35 am by road through maximum security. The road was closed to other traffic for a while as the convoy of vehicles carrying uranium arrived on the road.
Before this, the first shipment on September 29, the second shipment on October 6, the third shipment on October 13, the fourth shipment on October 20, the fifth shipment on October 27 and the sixth shipment on November 3 successfully reached Rooppur in Iswardi from Dhaka.
