Four BNP leaders sent to jail in 3 different cases

Three separate courts of Dhaka yesterday (Thursday) sent BNP Vice Chairmen Shahjahan Omar and Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Convener of its media cell Jahir Uddin Swapan, to jail in three different cases filed against them.
Of the four, Barrister Shahjahan Omar was sent to jail by Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury of Dhaka CMM Court following police produced him before the court after end of his four-day remand in a case lodged over torching a passenger bus on November 4 in New Market area.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Sheikh Sadi sent Shamsuzzaman Dudu to jail when police produced him before the court after end of his three-day remand in a case filed over attack on the official residence of Chief Justice (CJ) during BNP’s grand rally in Nayapaltan area of the capital on October 28.
BNP leaders Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Jahir Uddin Swapan were sent to jail by Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam after end of their six-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of police Constable Amirul Islam Pervej on October 28.
