‘Bangladesh to introduce e-visa soon’

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said electronic visa or e-visa will be introduced soon.
“E-visa will be launched very soon and the existing area of e-passport is expanding,” he said, addressing a newly constructed regional passport office in Natore, reports BSS.
The country is moving forward on the path of Smart Bangladesh, he said, adding: “We are the first to launch e-passport in Southwest Asia.”
“Already 1.16 crore e-passports have been delivered. Speedy delivery of these passports has boosted public-services up,” the minister added.
With Director General of Department of Immigration and Passports (Dhaka) Md Nurul Anwar in the chair, the inaugural programme was addressed, among others, by Natore-2 Constituency Lawmaker Shafiqul Islam Shimul, Narayanganj-4 constituency Lawmaker Shamim Osman and Secretary of the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs Md Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury as special guests.
