Reckless driving 7 of a family killed in Ctg road crash

Seven people of a family including three children were killed and two others injured in a head-on-collision between a bus and CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram on Tuesday.
The accident took place on Chattogram-Khagrachhari regional highway at the Board School area of ward 7 of Mirzapur union of the upazila around 12:00pm.
Being informed, members of police and fire service rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.
The deceased have been identified as Rita Das, 40, her children Srabonti Das, 18, Borsha Das, 10, Dwip Das, 3 and Diganta Das, 3, and Bipolb Dey, 27, and Bappa Das, 32.
Witnesses said the accident took place due to reckless driving of the drivers of the vehicles.
They said that the auto-rickshaw has been sandwiched in the impact of the collision and seven people died on the spot.
Locals said the victims were passengers of the auto-rickshaw and they were going to Fatikchhari from Rawshan Hat of Patia, and the vehicle collided head-on with bus bound for Chattogram city.
Mirzapur union parishad chairman Akther Hossain Khan said that seven people died in the accident. Of them, three were men, three children and a woman.
Md Adil Mahmud, Officer-in-charge of Nazirhat Highway Police Station, said that seven people of a family were killed and some others injured in a head-on collision between the bus and the auto-rickshaw.
The victims were on their way to the Maizbhandari shrine from Patia.
“Details of the deceased were immediately unavailable,” he added.
He also said the injured were sent to the hospital.
Adil Mahmud said the driver of the bus fled the spot immediately after the incident.
“We have seized the bus and are conducting drives to nab the driver,” he said, adding that a case is being filed in this connection.
Hathazari Fire Service Station Manager Mohammad Shahjahan said that on information, rescuers rushed to the spot and recovered the dead bodies.
Meanwhile in Mymensingh, at least four people were killed and 20 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a pick-up van on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Shikarikanda under Kotwali Police Station.
