Peter Haas meets Saber Hossain Chowdhury

News Desk :
US Ambassador Peter Haas held a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s environment and climate change affairs special envoy Saber Hossain Chowdhury on Monday.

Peter Haas went to the Paribagh residence of Member of Parliament Saber Hossain Chowdhury on Monday afternoon and held a two-hour long discussion.

Regarding the meeting on Monday, a US Embassy spokesperson told the media that they had discussed climate change and the possibilities for US-Bangladesh cooperation.

Earlier, on Nov 3, Peter Haas held a ‘closed-door’ meeting with Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen at the state guest house Padma.

Besides, on Oct 31, the US ambassador held a meeting at the Election Commission office in Agargaon. Later, he told the media that political violence around the election is not desirable in any way. He also urged the political parties to hold an unconditional dialogue before the elections.

Haas has intensified his political involvement and networking, while maintaining connections with the BNP and Jamaat as Bangladesh approaches its crucial national election.

In the lead-up to the 2014 elections, a similar scenario unfolded when Dan Mozina served as the US Ambassador to Bangladesh, and it was widely acknowledged that Patricia A Butenis played a significant role behind the scenes in the 1/11 regime in 2006.
