EC to train DC, SP 2nd term on Nov 10-11

The Election Commission (EC) is going to arrange a second term of training session for Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners (DCs), and Superintendent of police (SPs) on November 10-11.

EC is going to arrange this type of training for officials whose role is very important in polls ahead of the 12th parliamentary election to make it in a participatory and peaceful manner. The election may be held at the end of December or the first week of January next year. Due to the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s hartal and blocked the EC has rescheduled training time and the date. In an office order signed by Electoral Training Institute (ETI) Director General S M Asaduzzaman, the EC confirmed the matter on Monday, saying that the training will be held at ETI building.

EC is inviting Divisional Commissioners, police commissioners, Deputy inspectors general of police, DCs, SPs, regional election officers, senior district election officers to participate in the election management training session as part of the arrangement of the 12th parliamentary polls to hold it in a participatory and peaceful manner, the office order stated.

In view of the letter, the EC said that the first phase of the training of 116 Divisional Commissioners, Police Commissioners, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, Regional Election Officers and Senior District/District Election Officers regarding election management has been held on the occasion of the 12th National Assembly Elections.

The training of 114 people in the second phase of training will be held at the Election Training Institute on Friday and Saturday. Training will start from 9 am.

Divisional commissioners of Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet will participate in the training. Besides, letters have been sent to DC, SP and District Election Officer of Gopalganj, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Faridpur, Rajbari, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Narsingdi, Narayanganj, Dhaka, Gazipur, Mymensingh, Tangail, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Netrakona, Kishoreganj districts to participate in the training.

SPs, DCs and Election Officers of Sunamganj, Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Comilla, Chandpur, Brahmanbaria, Feni, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Chattogram, Khagrachhari, Rangamati, Bandarban and Barishal districts have also been given letters to participate in the training.
