ICC Men's CWC: India keep all-win record thrashing SA by 243 runs

India kept their all-win record in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup (CWC) thrashing South Africa (SA) by 243 runs in their eighth match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the former capital city of India on Sunday.
India collected maximum 16 points from eight matches, while South Africa bagged 12 points from as many matches.
Electing to bat first, India piled up a mammoth total of 326 for the loss of five wickets and then shot out South Africa for 83 off 27.1 overs.
India had a solid start with two openers Rohit Shrama and Shubman Gill put on together 62 runs in the opening stand before Rohit was caught at the mid-off by Temba Bavuma off Kagiso Rabada.
Rohit hit a polished 40. His 24-ball innings had six fours and two sixes.
Shubman Gill (23) was bowled out by Keshav Maharaj when the hosts’ total was 93 for the loss of two wickets.
One-down Virat Kohli and second-down Shreyas Iyer built a worthy partnership scoring together 134 runs for the third wicket partnership before Iyer was caught at the mid-on by Aiden Markram off Lungi Ngidi when India’s score was 227 for the loss of three wickets.
Virat Kohli remained unbeaten with 101 runs. He hit 10 fours in his 121-ball innings. It is Kohli’s 49th ODI century.
He touched the legend Sachin Tendulhkar’s record. Sachin also hit 49 centuries in his ODI campaign.
Virat Kohli was adjudged the Man of the Match for his terrific innings.
Iyer notched up a sparkle 77. His 87-ball innings was laced with seven fours and two sixes.
After Iyer’s dismissal, Indian batters could not make any notable partnership.
Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Marco Jansen, Tabraiz Shamsi took one wicket apiece.
Later, South African batters failed to resist superb bowling attack of India. No batter of the Proteas could make a notable score.
Spinner Ravindra Jadeja played the key role in wrecking South Africa innings with a good support of Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj.
Ravindra Jadeja scalped five wickets in the space of 33 runs, while Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Shami captured two wickets each giving seven and 18 runs respectively. Mohammed Siraj took one wicket for 11 runs.
