Independence Cup Football kicks-off today

The Independence Cup Football will kick-off today at the different venues across the country.

Bangladesh Police Football Club will take on Brothers Union Limited at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj which will start at 2.30pm, while Dhaka Abahani Limited will face Bangladesh Air Force Football team at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj which will begin at 2.30pm and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited will meet Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society at Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka which will kick-off at 2.30pm.

A total of 13 teams splitting into four groups will take part in the curtain-raiser football competition of this year.

Ten teams from Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football and three teams from qualification phase will compete in the Independence Cup Football.

Top two teams from each group will get tickets of the quarter-finals.

The winners of the quarter-finals will move into the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals will face each other in the final.

The winning team of the final will be the champions of the football meet.

The champions will be awarded Taka five lakh cash, while the runners-up will get Taka three lakh as prize-money.
The matches of the football tournament will be held at Bashundhara Kings Arena, Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium, Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium.

Bangladesh Police Football Club, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited, Brothers Union Limited are in Group-A, Dhaka Abahani Limited, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited, Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society, Bangladesh Air Force Football team are in Group-B, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, Fortis Club Limited, Bangladesh Army Football team are in Group-C, Bashundhara Kings, Chittagong Abahani Limited, Bangladesh Navy Football team are in Group-D.
