Ishwardi college student invents sanitary napkin vending machine
Ishwardi (Pabna) Correspondent :
Ishwardi Government College student Taher Mahmood Tarif has developed a smart sanitary napkin vending machine using indigenous technology.
School and college students can collect sanitary napkins through this vending machine if they are exposed to unpleasant situations during periods.
Two of such machines invented by Tarif have already been installed in Government SM School and College in Iswardi town.
It took five months to develop the Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine through using completely indigenous technology. Only 25 thousand taka has been spent to invent the vending machine.
At the time of the oxygen crisis in the country during the corona virus, Tarif became the talk of the country by inventing a low-cost artificial oxygen production device ‘Oxygen Concentrator’.
Tarif received the Sheikh Russel gold medal from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2022 as a junior inventor.
He won four times from 2020 to 2023 National Science and Technology Fair as the best junior scientist at the district level.
Tarif, a class 12 student of Ishwardi Government College, invented the oxygen concentrator machine in 2021 while studying in class 10.
Tarif invented oxygen concentrator machine after testing by the Ministry of ICT. Later, he was funded with Tk 10 lakh from the ministry’s ‘A to Z’ research institute to manufacture the machine.
Tarif is continuing research to further modernize the oxygen concentrator machine with the money. Where one patient could be treated with a concentrator device, two or more patients can now be treated.
Regarding the invention of sanitary napkin vending machine, Tarif said, in schools and colleges in our country, especially in schools, female students feel uncomfortable to buy sanitary napkins from the shops in the beginning when they undergo physical changes.
You can easily collect cheap pads using coins from vending machines.
My initiative is to provide women’s health protection products sanitary napkin services in all educational institutions including schools, colleges and universities.
He said, sanitary napkins or pads will be kept in the vending machine. Napkins or pads can be easily obtained by coining five taka in the machine when needed.
Automatic SMS will be sent to mobile to refill before the stock runs out.
The technology has optimal utilization opportunities as it costs less than conventional vending machines.
He said that the use of the machine will ensure the health protection of menstruating women students.
He also said that many institutions in the country have vending machines. The imported machine cost more than twice as much as the vending machine I invented.
Tarif is known for inventing the oxygen concentrator device, the sanitary napkin vending machine and super fast battery charging technology with the help of which the autorickshaw will be charged three times faster.
Tarif also invented fire rescue robots through which it is possible to put out the fire without human assistance.
Apart from this, some other inventions such as power transformer controlling system, save AC converter, smart road management lighting system, smart rail crossing system, artificial rain rocket for artificial rain are waiting for the approval of ICT Ministry.
Acting Principal of Government SM Model School and College Shahidul Haque Shaheen said that Taher Mahmud Tarif passed SSC from here in 2021.
