DB Police seized huge fake cigarettes

Detective Branch of the Chittagong Metropolitan Police has successfully apprehended four individuals involved in the production and illicit sale of counterfeit cigarettes containing fake government approval stamps.
During the raid, law enforcement officials seized a total of 16,283 packets of counterfeit cigarettes, mimicking popular brands such as Benson, Derby, Star, and Gold Leaf. If these counterfeit cigarettes were marketed, a total of 7 lakh 74 thousand 696 takas would have been evaded in government revenue, said a press release.
Deputy Commissioner (North) Nahid Adnan Taiyan confirmed the arrest and stated, ‘our team conducted a raid in Riazuddin Bazar in the city on Tuesday evening.
The operation resulted in the capture of four individuals engaged in the production & sales of counterfeit cigarettes, where they utilized established brand names and affixed forged stamps, all in an attempt to avoid paying government taxes.’
The detained individuals have been identified as Md Hossein (50) from Yasin store, Md Amzad Hossain Choudhury (41) from Didar stor, Bashir Ahmed (42) from Mokka store, and Md. Shahidul Alam (30) from Jahanara store.
Hossein was found in possession of 2,526 packets, Amzad Hossain with 6,425 packets, Bashir Ahmed with 3,116 packets, and Shahidul Alam with 4,316 packets.
