Swechchasebak League leader hacked to death in city

A leader of Swechchhasebak League was hacked to death in Lalkuthi area in capital’s Mirpur on Saturday night.

The victim has been identified as Shah Alam, 35, general secretary of ward number 10, Swechchhasebak League.

The incident occurred at 9 pm on Saturday night.

According to police and family source, around 20 people attacked Shah Alam with weapons when the victim was walking in front of the assistant land commissioner’s office in the area, leaving him critically injured.

After the attack, he was rushed to Suhrawardy Hospital first and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge Md Bacchu Mia confirmed the matter to the media saying that the body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Despite repeated attempts, the OC of Darus Salam Police Station could not be reached for comment in the matter.

Shah Alam haled form Mograkanda area of Savar.

His father’s name is Syed Ali. He was reportedly a tenant of Noor Islam’s house in Lalkuthi II Colony, Darus Salam.
