US travel advisory not matter of concern: FM
Staff Reporter :
Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen has asserted that the recent travel advisory issued by the US government for its citizens is an internal affair of America and there is no reasons for concern within Bangladesh.
“The US always issues such travel alert. It is their internal matter.
We are a peaceful nation.
There is no reason to fear anyone, he said while unveiling of Dr Arupratan Choudhury’s music video in the Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium in the National Museum on Saturday.
The US State Department on Oct 12 issued travel advisory with level 2 caution in Bangladesh due to crime, terrorism and the upcoming election.
It told its citizens to reconsider travelling to Chattagram Hill Tracts region due to occasional communal violence, crime, terrorism, kidnapping and other security risks.
Regarding the next general election, it said that political rallies and demonstrations may be held with increasing frequency or intensity as the general election draws nearer.
Travelers to Bangladesh should practice vigilance and remember that demonstration intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.
Apart from this, the Foreign Minister went on to say that those who work as agents of humanity have now become complicit in the killing of humanity.
“So many people are dying, and everyone remains silent. Their humanity is in question.
We do not want war. We have provided shelter to 1.1 million people.
And in Palestine, they are ousting millions of people.
This is a matter of shame for humanity.
We have always stood by the people of Palestine.
Our capacity is limited, but our moral support for Palestine is strong,” he said.
He urged everyone to uphold the principles of justice and harmony while maintaining the rich cultural diversity and stability, which is essential for building a beautiful Bangladesh.
The Minister stated that when peace and stability prevail, we will undoubtedly be successful in our development journey on the highway of progress.
Talking about the security measures for the Puja festival of the Hindu community, he said, “To ensure that followers of the Sanatan Dharma can celebrate their worship without hindrance, sufficient efforts have been made under the guidance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. As a result, the number of worship pavilions increases every year.”
Dr. Arupratan Choudhury said, “Durga Puja is a celebration that brings people of all communities together.
The joy of the festival spreads to everyone, making Durga Puja everyone’s own.”
