Cricket World Cup India thrash Australia by 6-wkt in opener

India thrashed Australia by six wickets in their opening match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai of India on Sunday.
Chasing Australia’s paltry total of 199 off 49.3 overs, India sailed home making 201 runs for the loss of four wickets when they had 52 balls to spare.
India faced a disaster as they lost their early three wickets for just two runs.
One-down Virat Kohli and third-down KL Rahul salvaged their team from early debacle adding together 165 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Virat Kohli was caught at the short fine leg by Marnus Labuschagne off Josh Hazlewood when the hosts’ total was 167 for the loss of four wickets.
Kohli hit a marvelous 85. His 116-ball innings decorated with six fours.
After Kohli’s departure, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya powered their team to anchor the victory target. They scored together 24 runs in the unbroken five-wicket stand.
KL Rahul remained unbeaten with 97 runs. His 115-ball innings had eight fours and two sixes. Rahul was adjudged the Man of the Match for his terrific innings.
