Call for flourishing tourism sector to strengthen economy

The World Tourism Day was observed on WEdnesday with the call for promoting the tourism sector by flourishing it in many areas of the region as it’s prospects are very bright here.
To mark the day, the district administration and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation jointly brought out a rally from the collectorate building premises followed by a discussion at the Parjatan Motel Conference Hall.
The theme for World Tourism Day -2023 is “Tourism and Green Investments” emphasizing the importance of making tourism more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Green investments involve using money and resources to support eco-friendly practices in the tourism industry.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rajshahi Shamim Ahmed addressed the meeting as the chief guest highlighting the significance of the day, while Parjatan Motel Manager Motaher Hossain was in the chair.
Deputy Director of Local Government Ashraful Islam, Additional DCs Sarker Aasim Kumar, Kolyan Chowdhury and Anisul Islam also spoke on the occasion.
DC Shamim Ahmed said internal tourists can be the big source of revitalizing the tourism sector in the post-Covid-19 time. So, there is now way but to reach the Bangladesh Tourism Board activities to the marginal level.
He told the meeting that formulation work of a 20-year master plan has started for the development of the country’s tourism sector. Upon successful implementation of the plan a great achievement will come in the sector, he added.
BSS from Rangpur reports : Speakers at a discussion on Wednesday called for flourishing huge potential of the tourism sector to further strengthen the national economy and accelerate development for building a developed Bangladesh.
They expressed the view in the post-rally discussion marking the World Tourism Day- 2023 at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner with the theme of ‘Tourism and Green Investments’ in the city.
The district administration in association with Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation and Rangpur Parjatan Motel organised the rally, discussion, competitions on essay writing and drawing for children and prize distribution to celebrate the day.
Earlier, the rally led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Mobasswer Hasan and participated by the students, teachers, rovers, scouts, youths, officials and employees and civil society members, was brought out on the main city streets.
The DC as the chief guest inaugurated the celebrations by releasing balloons followed by leading the rally and attending the discussion presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) AWM Raihan Shah.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Admin and Finance) Md Tarikul Islam, Inspector of Rangpur Tourist Police Md Mostafizur Rahman and Manager of Rangpur Parjatan Motel Syeed Salem Sheikh addressed the discussion as special guests.
Salem Sheikh discussed prevailing incredible potentials in the country’s tourism sector and steps taken by the present government to explore those for accelerating economic advancement of the nation.
Gouripur (Mymensingh) adds : The World Tourism Day was observed in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district in a befitting manner on Wednesday aiming to raise awareness among the people about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic values.
The theme for World Tourism Day is “Tourism and Green Investments”, which highlights the importance of tourism for sustainable development and the need for more and better-targeted investments in the sector Marking the day, Creative Association and the Electoral Committee for Pen Award Affairs chalked out various programmes formed a human chain, rally and discussion meetings.
A human chain was held at Gouripur R.K. Govt. High School premises in the town of Gouripur for emphasizing the need of upgrading Gouripur upazila into a tourism attraction.
There are more than 50 (fifty) archeological sites in Gouripur Upazila such as old mosques, old temples, 12 landlord houses (Rajbari), Sardarbari, the ruined earthen walls of two forts (Kella Bokainagar and Kella Tajpur) old mint, ancient shrine, tomb of Nizamuddin Aulia (R:), Birangana Sakhina’s tomb, Historic Chimurani Dighi (ponds), East India Company pond.
