Bullet-injured lawyer Bhuvan Chandra dies

Lawyer Bhuvan Chandra Sheel, who was critically injured earlier in firing by the miscreants in Tejgaon Industrial area of the city, succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning at a private hospital.

According to victim’s relatives Polash Chandra Sheel, Bhuvan died around 10:30am while on life support at Dhanmondi Popular Hospital.

The body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH)
morgue for autopsy, Polash Chandra said.

Earlier on Monday, three people, including top criminal Tariq Saeed Mamun, were injured in a gun and knife attack by a group of unidentified persons near the Bangladesh Government Press area in the capital’s Tejgaon.

The two other injured were – Bhuvan Chandra Sheel and Ariful Haque, both were “pedestrians”.

Mamun was stabbed in the incident while Bhuvan sustained bullet wounds, he said.

Meanwhile, Bhuvan was shot in the head and Ariful was hurt. Later, they were taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment. Bhuvan was later shifted to the capital’s Popular Hospital for better treatment.

Bhuban used to work as a legal consultant for Gomoti Textile Limited.

His wife Ratna Rani Sheel is a high school teacher at Maijdee in Noakhali.

Their daughter Bhumika Chandra Sheel recently passed the SSC examination.
