Khaleda Zia shifted to CCU again
Staff Reporter :
The main opposition party-BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, who has been undergoing treatment in a hospital in Dhaka for over a month, was taken to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the hospital again at Friday noon.
However, the BNP chief was sent back to the cabin a few hours later.
BNP chairperson’s media wing member Shamsuddin Didar confirmed the matter, saying the former prime minister was shifted from the cabin to the CCU of Evercare Hospital due to her worsening health situation.
Didar said that the BNP chief was shifted to the CCU as per the decision of the medical board.
Earlier on September 18, the former prime minister was taken to the hospital’s CCU, where she received treatment for around 10 hours before being shifted back to the cabin.
Doctors said that she was suffering from multiple complications, including severe liver, heart, and kidney-related troubles.
Amid the coronavirus outbreak, the government temporarily freed Begum Khaleda Zia from jail through an executive order by suspending her sentence on March 25, 2020, with certain conditions including staying at her Gulshan house and would not leave the country.
The former Prime Minister was taken to jail on 8 February 2018 following her conviction in a graft case.
Subsequtently she was convicted in several other cases.
