New CJ takes oath on Sep 26

Newly appointed Chief Justice (CJ) of Bangladesh Obaidul Hassan will take his oath on September 26.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin will administer his oath at 11.00 am on that day at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban, said Md Golam Rabbani, Registrar General of the Supreme Court.
Earlier on September 12, Justice Obaidul Hassan, the senior most judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, was appointed the new Chief Justice of the country.
The President appointed Justice Obaidul Hassan as the new Chief Justice of the Bangladesh in line with the article 95(1) of the Constitution, said a notification issued by the Law Ministry on September 12.
The appointment will come into effect after taking his oath, also read the notification issued by Law Secretary Md Golam Sarwar.
The incumbent Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique will retire on September 25, as he will completed his 67 years, the age boundary of a Supreme Court judge, on that day.
Justice Obaidul Hassan will be the 24th Chief Justice of the country.
