Audio clip vilifying JU VC leaked
JU Correspondent :
An audio clip went viral on social media where a Jahangirnagar University (JU) teacher allegedly vilified JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Nurul Alam.
The alleged teacher, Mahmudur Rahman Joni, an assistant professor of the Public Health and Informatics department, who is accused of moral turpitude.
An envelope with a DVD containing an audio clip and a letter was sent to journalists by courier service on Sunday.
Providing no clear introduction, the anonymous sender claimed as a member of the proctorial body.
In the 52-second audio clip, Joni said, “But you forget, I was once upon a time, I was the former president of BSL-JU.
I am not saying that I may or may not be caught. But before I get caught, I will finish four or five people.”
At that time, he also said, “And I reached the VC with one person, he said that he would suspend me and also told me to take refuge of the law.”
After 32 seconds of the audio clip, Joni started abusing VC in inaudible language.
In his ‘drunken state’, he kept saying, “So I am the law.
So I have been asked to take legal recourse.
But he has forgotten… (Vice Chancellor) who is sitting on the chair for me.”
However, denying the allegations, Joni said, “I did not say any such thing.
I don’t know about any such audio clip. I haven’t much power to put the vice chancellor on the chair.”
Despite several attempts to contact JU VC Prof Nurul Alam, he did not respond.
