Ex-BMA leaders demand Khaleda’s treatment abroad

The health condition of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, is still not out of danger and she needs treatment from an advanced hospital.
Earlier on the day, Khaleda Zia was transferred to Coronary Care Unit (CCU) from a cabin at 1:30am as per the recommendation of her medical board and later on Monday morning she was moved to the cabin again.
The 78-year-old former prime minister has been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung, heart, and eye problems.
Meanwhile, the government has suspended BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s jail sentence for another six months, a notification has been issued in this regard.
However, the BNP leaders have been demanding for long to allow Khaleda Zia for taking proper treatment from abroad.
They also alleged that the government is trying to kill Khaleda Zia for not allowing her to get proper treatment when some Awami League’s convicted leaders getting treatment facilities from abroad.
Highlighting the health condition of BNP Chairperson, the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in press briefing said on Monday, “Khaleda Zia is still not out of danger.
Though today we are fighting for the restoration of democracy in Bangladesh, Khaleda Zia, leader of the country and mother of democracy, is still fighting for her life under house arrest.”
He said she needs an advanced hospital for her treatment.
“Doctors have repeatedly advised to take her abroad for treatment,” said the BNP leader, demanding the BNP chairperson’s unconditional release.
Meanwhile, former leaders of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) demanded of the government to send BNP Chairperson abroad immediately to ensure her proper treatment.
In a statement issued by ex-BMA president Professor Dr AKM Azizul Haque and ex-Secretary General Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain also protested and condemned the government for not allowing Khaleda Zia to receive proper treatment from abroad.
The government will have to bear the responsibilities if anything happen of the negligence of treatment of imprisoned Khaleda Zia, the BMA leaders said. They also demanded her immediate unconditional release.
Meanwhile, BNP Standing Committee member Dr Moyeen Khan said, “BNP doesn’t perform the politics of killing people. We want to continue the peaceful movement. No evil force can withstand human will.”
In response to questions about former party leaders being members of Trinamool BNP, Moyeen Khan said, “BNP is not Bakshal.
People are not forced to be supporters here.”
