Parliament election schedule in Nov: EC Anisur

Election Commissioner (EC) Md. Anisur Rahman has said the schedule of the 12th National Assembly elections will be announced in November this year.

The election will be held in the first week of January 2024.

EC Anisur made the assertion on Sunday while participating in a view exchange meeting with the administration and election officials at the district election office here.

The Election Commission expected that all political parties will participate in the upcoming parliament elections.

He, however, said, ‘Participation of all parties does not depend on the commission. It absolutely depends on the decisions of the parties concerned.

He said, “We have no jurisdiction over the parties. But we will create an environment suitable for the elections.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, Police Super (SP) Mohammad Russell Sheikh, ADC (General) Rubel Mahamud and District Election Officer Ashraful Alam were present in the meeting.
