Naval rally held in Sylhet

The Naval rally was held on the Sari River in solidarity with millions of people around the world demanding a quick, fair and equitable end to fossil fuels.

Waterkeepers Bangladesh, Surma River Waterkeeper and Sari Nadi Bachao Andolan organized this gathering of more than half a hundred boats at Sarighat Point of Sari River on Friday afternoon.

Apart from the general public, hundreds of people from boatmen, fishermen and Bede community participated in the rally to express their solidarity with the demand to end fossil fuels.

Under the chairmanship of Abdul Hai Al-Hadi, Surma River Water Keepers Abdul Karim Kim spoke as the chief guest.

Trustee of Heritage and Conservation Trust Fakir Sohail was present as special guest.

Bapa Sylhet executive committee member Mujahid Hossain Munim and Surma River Waterkeeper organizer Kibria Chowdhury Sumon were also present among others.

Speakers at the naval assembly said that the world’s climate is changing rapidly.

Along with this, droughts, heavy rains, floods and excessive heat are increasing

Our traditional seasons are changing. The balance of the biosphere is being destroyed.

The world is continuously warming day by day.

The existence of mankind and the earth is being threatened.
