HAAB President praised for proper hajj management

Staff Reporter :
For the first time, the Bangladesh government has issued a thanks letter to the President of Hajj Agencies of Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) for his contribution to a smooth management of Hajj this year.

On behalf of the government, Md. A. Hamid Jamaddar, Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, sent the letter to HAAB President M Shahadat Hossain Taslim recently.

This year, the Holy Hajj was held on June 27 (9 Zilhaj).

The Secretary of Religion, in the letter, said, “Hajj is one of the five main pillars of Islam.

According to Islamic law, performing Hajj at least once in life is obligatory for all Muslim men and women who are financially and physically able.

Hajj is an annual congregation of devout Muslims from all over the world.”

He said, “You will be glad to know that a total of 1,22,558 pilgrims from Bangladesh travelled to the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj through public and private management during the Hajj of 1444 Hijri/2023 AD and returned home after performing all Hajj rituals properly.”

As Hajj is a scheduled pilgrimage, all the honorable pilgrims intending to perform the ritual Hajj within the stipulated time are required to complete pre-registration, registration, biometric finger print, visa process, flight schedule determination, travel to Saudi Arabia on the scheduled flight and accommodation arrangements for the pilgrims there.

“Your outstanding contribution to sending Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia through 603 Hajj agencies approved by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and participating in Hajj 2023, providing timely advice and round-the-clock assistance to agencies sending Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, especially through SN Travels, after their journey to Saudi Arabia became uncertain, I remember your contribution sincerely”, the secretary said.

“The Ministry thanked you very much for your wisdom and hard work in the proper management of Hajj and serving the guests of Allah”, the letter noted.

“May Almighty Allah bless you for providing proper services to the pilgrims, including assisting the Ministry of Religious Affairs in the management of Hajj in the upcoming days”, the letter added wishing a healthy and happy life of the HAAB President.

In the past years, pilgrims fell victims to various irregularities and corruption of the agencies in sending them to Saudi Arabia.

There were a lot of complaints against the HAAB and agencies involving trolley bags.

Currently there are no further complaints against the HAAB as the trolley bags are being procured through agencies.
