Community health workers give 15-day ultimatum for salary increase
Staff Reporter :
Community Health Care Providers (CHCPs) working in 14,225 community clinics across the country have given a 15-day ultimatum demanding a salary hike.
While highlighting their demands, on their platforms CHCPs members said that if the facilities including salary increase are not ensured within the next 15 days, a strict program will be given.
They said these at a press conference organized by the Bangladesh Community Health Care Providers Association at the capital’s National Press Club on Friday.
President of the association, Zahidul Islam said that 13,900 CHCPs working in community clinics are delivering healthcare to the doorsteps of marginalized communities.
This service has been recognized as a role model globally.
However, the salary of CHCPs has not been increased for the last 12 years and we are gradually marginalized as the commodity price surged by an intolerable rate, he said.
