EC set to declare draft foreign observers policy

The draft policy of foreign election observers’ in 12th parliamentary polls of the Election Commission (EC) is almost done and will be declared on next Sunday or Monday (September 3, 4).
EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath told reporters after a meeting with the representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs, home affairs and the information and broadcasting and the National Board of Revenue at Nirbachan Bhaban in this regard on Thursday.
He said today’s (August 31) meeting was second whereas the 23 August meeting was first. In today’s meeting the commission discussed the issue of foreign observers as how they will take part in the 12th parliamentary polls observation.
After the commission approval the draft policy will be made public.
Before that we are not allowed to make any remarks on the issue, because there are some sensitive clauses that could not allow revealing earlier, he added.
When asked is there change in draft policy? Ashok Kumar Debnath replied that there is no major change has been made. We are trying to make an observation friendly godliness.
He said no more information today.
