Ministry won’t fix eggs price, says Tipu Munshi

Staff Reporter :
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said that the Ministry of Commerce will not decide what the price of eggs should be.

He said this in response to reporters’ questions after a meeting with a high-level delegation of the visiting ‘US-Bangladesh Business Council’ at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday (August 30) at 12 noon.

He said, after the increase in the price of eggs, I said that eggs will be imported to maintain the supply if necessary. I always talked about taking such measures.

Regarding eggs, he said, I said that day too, the Ministry of Commerce will not decide what the price of eggs should be.

The Fisheries and Livestock Authority has fixed the price as it should be.

We are trying to keep the price that they set in the market.

Responding to a question about overall price inflation, he said, “Look at the global situation, when you see that even in the shops in England, you can’t buy more than three tomatoes, it becomes rustic.” Germany also took action on oil in stores.

We must have had an impact here as well. It may not be solved at the moment, but we are constantly trying.

May we survive this global crisis.

When asked about the Prime Minister’s remark Tipu Munsi said I don’t understand for which the PM has said it.

I never said about syndicate as it remained and we will disband it.

We said when daily commodities price hike in the country we tried to diminish it and try to bring daily essentials price under control and within the buying capacity of limited income group people, he added.

After the PM press briefing I was with her for three hours.

She did not ask anything about the matter, commerce minister said.
