Stamp crisis disrupts land registration in Bhangura

Due to the stamp crisis in Bhangura upazila of Pabna, land registration, agreement execution, and loan activities are being disrupted.

On this occasion, the vendor has increased the price of the stamp.

Rafiqul Islam from Kolkati village of the upazila said that he bought a stamp of 150 taka for 250 taka to execute a contract.

Hasan Ali from Chotabishakol village said that when he went to buy a stamp of 300 takas for taking a loan, the vendor took 400 taka from him.

Besides, five taka/ten taka stamps are being sold at 3/4 times higher prices.

Deed writer Sher Mahmood said vendors are charging high prices as they do not have enough stamps.

Due to this, the cost of land registration has increased for customers.

Akbar Ali, a vendor of Saratnagar market in the upazila, said that it is not possible to meet the needs of customers due to an insufficient supply of stamps by the government.

A few months back, they were getting the same amount of stump supply every week in government challan, now are not getting in two months.

Therefore, the vendors in different areas have to collect stamps at a higher price from their stock.

Due to this, the price has to be charged more.

He demanded to supply enough stamps in Bhangura upazila and said that it is not possible to sell stamps at a fair price without proper allocation.

Accounting officer of Pabna Treasury Office Mahfuza Khanam informed about the inadequacy of the government in the supply of stamps and said that adequate allocation is not available at present.

So a temporary crisis has arisen.

However, she hopes that this crisis will be over within the next two months.
