Rooppur NPP to get fuel delivery in Sept

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Alexei Likhachev, the Director-General of Rosatom, to discuss the upcoming delivery of fuel for the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) in Bangladesh, a move that is set to expand the global landscape of nuclear power production.
In a tweet by the Embassy of Russia in Bangladesh on Thursday wrote: “On August 14 President Putin met with Rosatom DG Alexei Likhachev. In autumn we will be delivering fuel for RNPP, so there will be one more country in the world producing nuclear power. We maintain a very comfortable relationship with our partners in Bangladesh, said Likhachev.”
Earlier on July 31, Rosatom DG arrived in Dhaka and met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban where Likhachev said that the nuclear fuel for the RNNP would arrive in Bangladesh in September.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister extended her gratitude to all those involved in progressing the work of the RNPP, persevering through the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic and the global crisis.
Furthermore, she conveyed her appreciation to Russia for its contribution of technology and financial support, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said these to journalists at that time.
As the world continues to explore cleaner energy alternatives, the collaboration between Russia and Bangladesh in the nuclear sector underscores their joint commitment to technological progress and international cooperation.
The meeting between President Putin and Alexei Likhachev highlights the proactive efforts of both parties in addressing global energy challenges and advancing the utilization of nuclear power as a clean and efficient energy source.
