Nine more dengue deaths in 24 hours, 2,149 hospitalised

The country reported nine more deaths from dengue in 24 hours till Wednesday morning, raising the fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in to 435 in the ongoing year.
Besides, 2, 2149 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, as per the data of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among the new patients, 834 were admitted to hospitals in the capital city and the rest outside Dhaka, DGHS data showed.
It said a total of 9, 165 dengue patients, including 4, 002 the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country. The DGHS has recorded 92, 024 dengue cases, 82, 424 recoveries so far.
The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019. Also, it recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
Meanwhile, three Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) hospitals offer free dengue tests from Thursday.
It said that the people will get free dengue test facilities at three hospitals run by DSCC from Thursday. The hospitals are Dhaka Mahanagar General Hospital, Dhaka Mahanagar Shishu Hospital and Nazirabazar Matrisadan, said a DSCC press release on Wednesday. As per the press release, the hospitals will provide patients with this service from 8:00am to 2:00pm every day except Friday. However, the free test will be available from 10:00am to 2:00pm on Thursday.
