BCB appoints performance psychologist ahead of Asia Cup, WC

Agency :
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed performance psychologist Phil Jones ahead of Asia Cup and ODI World Cup (WC) 2023.

Jones will work with the cognitive development and analyze performance of the Tigers prior to the two most important tournaments.

However, he will be with the Tigers for a short seven days program.

BCB was planning to include a psychologist for a long time. Head Coach Chandika Hathurusingha also worked with the Australian psychologist before.

BCB, earlier appointed psychologist Ali Azad Khan in October 2018. Bangladesh Cricket team also got success by appointing a psychologist part-time in the Zimbabwe series.

Indian psychologist Professor Dr. Soumendra Saha had worked with Bangladesh before the 2011 World Cup.

Bangladesh Cricket also introduced Global Positioning System (GPS) kit during their training.

The GPS kit ensures the players’ workload management as the users get the most accurate and comprehensive perspective of athletic movement.

With the use of GPS kits, physios and trainers can access players’ necessary information about fitness.

Each player will have an “account” of his own and so they and the coaches will be able to assess the fitness and decide on availability.
