Six HSC exam candidates held in city

Police have detained six students, who were demonstrating demanding the postponement of this year’s Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinationsscheduled to begin from August17.
The police detained them from in front of Shahbag Police Station when they brought out a procession towards Shahbagh from TSC of Dhaka University. The police allegedly beatthe students at that time.
“There is a lot of doubt whether they are students or not.” Asked some students yesterday, they gave contradictory information,” DMP’s Ramna division deputy commissioner Mohammad Ashraf Hossain told media.
“Today they are on the streets. At that time they attacked the police. Some were taken to Shahbagpolice station,” he added.
The students said that many of them could not participate in class and examination due to the dengue situation. Besides, many of us are infected with dengue. So, we demanded to postpone the examination for two months.
The students claimed that they are getting less time. It is not possible to sit in the examination of the entire syllabus at this time.
They said that our examination should be taken on 50 marks after reducing syllabus or the examination should be delayed by two months. They also demanded not to take the ICT examination.
