Heavy rain broken trees, semi-built houses in Lohagara

The heavy rain fall has uprooted a 20-year-old tree in Chattogram’s Lohagara Upazila in East Mirpara area of Ward No. 4 of Padua Union and destroyed the semi-built house of a helpless family on Saturday.
This incident happened last Saturday morning. The owner of the broken house is Nurul Alam (40), son of deceased Nurul Islam, vice president of Padua Union Farmers League.
On the surface, it was found that there is a drain on the side of the collapsed house for the movement of water. There is a large tree planted there.
The tree fell on Nurul Alam’s semi-paved house due to heavy rain on Saturday morning. At that time, the wall of the house collapsed.
The owner of the damaged house, Nurul Alam, said that there was an estimated loss of Tk 10 lakhs in this incident.
Upon receiving the news, Padua UP Chairman Md. Harunor Rashid and local UP member Md. Nazrul Islam Babul visited the spot.
During the inspection, Chairman Harunor Rashid said that the people whose house the tree collapsed are very poor. We have informed this to the authority about this.
He also assured the affected families of Padua Union Parishad’s support.
The victim Nurul Alam said that he had spent Tk 7 lakh to build a semi-paved house 10 years ago.
He asked the owner of the tree repeatedly to cut the tree, but he did not listen to it. Heavy rains uprooted the tree and fell into my residence, collapsing the house.
