Int’l Philosophy Conference begins at DU

A two-day international philosophy conference began at Student-Teacher Center (TSC) auditorium of Dhaka University (DU) on Friday.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the conference organised by Bangladesh Philosophical Society (BPS).

Prof Dr Harun-ur- Rashid presented the keynote paper on ‘Good Education for Good Governance: Logic and Ethics’ chaired by BPS President Prof Dr. Md. Sajahan Miah.
Emphasizing the practice of philosophy for the moral development of people, DU Vice Chancellor said “Philosophers create different ways of thinking and explain ways to solve problems. Human knowledge and wisdom develop through the practice of philosophy.

People acquire the ability to judge and analyze through this.” He urged the students to become good people by taking philosophy education.

Bangladesh Univer-sity Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Kazi Shahidullah delivered speech as chief guest while DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal was present as special guest.
