8 fishermen arrested at Dublarchar

Some 08 fishermen were arrested along with fishing nets and a trawler from Dublarchar Fisherman village area in the Eastern Divisison of Sundarbans by the forest guards at Monday night on the charge of catching fish illegally. The arrested fishermen were sent to the court in Bagerhat district headquarters on Tuesday at noon, according to a report received here.
It is learnt from a source of Sundarbans forest department that a contingent of the forest guards led by Nasir Uddin, Forester of Dubla Fisherman village Forest outpost conducted a raid at a canal named Maranerchar (canal) under Dublarchar at Monday night and arrested some eight fishermen along with a trawler while they were catching fish illegally from the canal.
The arrested fishermen are Al-Amin, Shahin, Santos, Alam, Rabbi, Shahadat, Khirul and Abul Chawkidar.
They all hail from Padma area under Patharghata Upazila in Barguna district.
