LPG price hiked by Tk 11.75 per kg

The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been hiked by Tk11.75 per kg to Tk94.96 per kg for the month of August from the previous price of Tk83.21 per kg in July.

The price of a 12kg LPG cylinder provided by private companies has been hiked by Tk141 to Tk1,140 which was at Tk999 in July.

The new price will be effective from 6pm Wednesday, said Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Chairman Md Nurul Amin while announcing the new price at a press conference at the commission’s auditorium.

He also said the new rate will be considered for determining the price of other sizes of cylinders like 15kg, 20kg, 30kg and 45kg.

12 kg LPG is mostly used in domestic for cooking purpose.

The price had dropped by Tk19.69 in the previous two months since May when the price was Tk102.9 per kg.

BERC had been determining the LPG price since April 2021. The two main ingredients for making LPG are Propene and Butene imported from different countries. The Saudi Arabian organization Aramco has disclosed the price of two ingredients in every month.

However, the price of government companies supply LPD did not hike. The price of vehicles use LPG, which is known as auto gas, has fixed Tk52.17 per litter which was Tk46.59.

Bangladeshi LPG operators normally import their products from the Middle-East market on the basis of Saudi CP.
