Govt may declare opposition leaders ineligible for election: Jamaat

Staff Reporter  :
Prof. Mujibur Rahman, Acting Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has commented that there is deep conspiracy to convict the opposite leaders of the political party against the current government and declare them ineligible for the election.

He made this comment in a press conference organized in the capital on Wednesday ‘to demand the restoration of democratic rights and the establishment of a caretaker government system in the current conflicting political situation in the country’.

Referring to the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections, Mujibur Rahman said that the entire nation is united in the demand of the caretaker government to make the elections free, fair, impartial and participatory.

But the government ignores the demands of the people and continues to try to hold one-sided elections. The conspiracy to convict and disqualify the leaders of the opposite political parties against the current government.

For this, the cases filed against the opposition party leaders and activists have been accepted till nine o’clock even in the night in some cases for quick settlement.

Alleging that the current government is not allowing anyone to hold peaceful meetings and marches, he said that the government party is creating a conflict situation by announcing counter-programmes on the day of the meetings and rallies of the opposition political parties.
