Travelers fined in Jhalokathi market

Travelers fined by operating mobile court for playing ear-splitting DJ song in floating guava market area of Jhalakathi district. The largest guava plantation in the country and in the Asian continent across 20 villages including Kirttipasha, Shatadashkathi and Bhimruli of Jhalokathi Sadar, Swarupkathi of Pirojpur and Banaripara Upazilas of Barishal district . Every day hundreds of tourists come to visit guava plantations and floating markets in this area.
Three mobile courts led by Anching Marma along with Milan Chakma and Mong Achen, executive magistrates of Jhalokathi district administration, conducted the operation from Saturday morning to afternoon.
Angching Marma, who led one of the mobile courts, said, nine thousand taka have been fined in five cases against the accused who have caused sound pollution by playing music in high volume and thirteen sound boxes have been seized.
He said that law breakers will be jailed, fine had to be increased and the sound box had to be destroyed for playing loud music on the trawler in the future.
Jhalokathi District Commissioner Farah Gul Nijhum said, considering the healthy environment for the tourists, these drives will continue throughout the season. Special attention is being paid to Friday and Saturday than other days of the week. The operation will also be conducted in the food hotels of the area.
Debashish Barua, a tourist of the area, said, ‘I have come from Khulna. The administration has kept the atmosphere here calm which was not the last year. If this is observed, more tourists will come to visit with their families.
Tanima, another tourist, said, “This time, the environment of Guava planting area is a little different. No noise pollution. This operation of the administration was our long-standing demand. Tourists from different parts of the country throng the floating guava market on weekends.
Last year too, there were complaints against teenagers who roamed the gardens with loud DJs playing music. However, this year the local administration has started a campaign to stop the activities of ‘DJ Party’.
Mentionable every year during the guava season, hundreds of tourists flock at the floating guava market in Bhimruli and other parts under Jhalokathi every day to see the natural beauty.
Teenagers are coming around the market in trawlers with loudly DJ-playing soundboxes and cheering in the area polluting environment. Shoppers and ordinary tourists have become fed up with this.
