Police recovered the bodies of a couple from a ceiling fan of a house on the Titas Road in the city’s East Rampura on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Jewel, 28, son of one Azadur Khandakar in Kurigram, and his wife Nasrin, 22, hailing from Nikli of Kishoreganj.
Jewel used to work as a day labourer, while Nasrin worked as a domestic help in the area.
Police and family suspect that they might have committed suicide due to poverty.
Being informed, police recovered the bodies around 3.30am on Wednesday from a tin shed house and sent those to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy.
They married about three years and six month ago. They had a child who died about 9/10 months ago.
Nasrin was a housemaid but recently she had to leave her work due to fever. Juel was depressed because he lost his job.
Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of East Rampura Police Station, said police recovered the bodies hanging from the ceiling of their home on Titas Road around 3 am after getting information from neighbours.
After the incident, a team of forensic department of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) rushed to the spot and collected samples as evidence.
