7 placed on 4-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed seven people on four-day remand each in a case filed over murder of former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader Waliullah Rubel.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Sohagh Uddin passed the order as police produced the seven before the court and pleaded to place them on seven-day remand.
The seven remanded accused are- Alif Hossain, 21, Robiul Sunny, 21, Mehedi Hasan, 19, Md Shahjalal, 37, Rafikul Islam, 38, Nur Alam, 42, and Sumon Mir, 28.
Another accused Habib Ahsan on Sunday gave confessional statement in the case. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mosharraf Hossain recorded his statement under section 164. The court later sent him to jail.

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested ten people Saturday night from different areas in the capital in

connection with the murder of former BCL leader Waliullah Rubel.
They allegedly took part in the brutal killing directly.

According to the case documents, Rubel was viciously hacked by unidentified assailants at around 1.15pm on July 20 at Gulbag Joardar Lane area of capital’s Shahjahanpur.
Family members rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Rubel’s wife Tanjina later filed the case with Shahjahanpur Police Station.
