Nine more deaths were recorded from dengue in 24 hours till Thursday morning, raising the fatalities to 155 in the country so far in this year.
During the period, 1,755 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) data showed it.
As per the data, of the latest hospitalised people, 845 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and the rest outside it. A total of 5,937 dengue patients, including 3,522 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.
So far, the DGHS has recorded 27,547 dengue cases, 21,455 recoveries this year.
The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019.
Also, it recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries in the past year.
Meanwhile, Professor Dr. Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, the Director General of the DGHS said in a function in Dhaka on Thursday that the mosquito killing programme should continue round the year.
He said the role of those officials involved in the mosquito eliminating tasks is very important.
“The mosquitoes eliminating programme should be continued round the year to curb the mosquito born disease,” he said.
