JP leader murder, mother daughter remanded

A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed one Momota Begum, 50, and her daughter Kamrunnahar Chadni, 23, on five-day remand each in a case filed over the death of Jatiya Party central leader Abdus Salam Bahadur, 52.
Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Ataullah passed the order after police produced the two suspects in the court and pleaded to place them on seven-day remand each.
Police on Tuesday arrested Momota and her daughter in separate raids in Dhaka and Manikganj.
Body of Salam was recovered in front of the emergency department of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in the capital on July 15.
It has been learnt that a girl and boy dumped the body of the JP leader from a red car at around 11.30pm on July 15 and fled the scene.
