Old day labourer dies in Fakirhat

An old day labourer named Eunus Shaikh (60) met his tragic end when he fell from a cocoanut tree belonging to one Kalpona Chakraborty of Mansa-Sahapara area under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Tuesday morning (at about 9am).Deceased Eunus Shaik was the son of one late Kohil Uddin Shaikh hailed from the village Maddhyabahirdia under the same Upazila.
It is learnt from the police that in the morning Eunus Shaikh claimed the cocoanut tree in order to clean its head and pluck cocoanuts from the same. But unfortunately he, somehow, slipped and fell on the ground from the tree. On hearing the crying of Eunus Shaikh some locals rushed to the spot, recovered him from theree and took him to a local health clinic where the physician on duty declared him dead. On an information police visited the place of occurrence and after preparing a spot verification report recovered the dead body.
Muhammad Alimuzzaman, Officer-in-charge of Fakirhat Model PS confirmed the news and told, the dead body was handed over to family members after the completion of the legal proceedings.
