Vows to prevent dengue spread in dists

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has taken initiatives of expediting its conservancy and other cleanliness activities to prevent the dengue spread.
The city corporation has already strengthened the activities of preventing the breeding places of mosquitoes and generating awareness among the public in general in this regard.
As part of their adopted measures, the RCC officials held a meeting with ward secretaries, mosquito inspectors and supervisors at the City Bhaban Conference Hall Tuesday.

Giving direction to the ward level officers and others concerned Dr Sharif Uddin said there is no way but to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes and generate mass-awareness to resist dengue spread. He asked them to expedite their activities more to attain the cherished goal.
Dr Sharif also said legal action will be taken against the owners of houses,buildings and institutions if mosquito larvae are found in their catchment areas. Water stagnant in flower tub, broken utensil, abandoned tier, tin pot and drum not to be allowed.
Staff Reporter from Mymensingh reports : School based awareness campaign initiated by Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC) has started from Tuesday to build a dengue aware generation and convey the message of awareness to families through children.
MCC Mayor Md Ekramul Haque Titu inaugurated this program by conducting an awareness campaign in the city’s Premier Ideal High School and Mymensingh District School Auditorium on Tuesday morning. Addressing the chief guest at the campaign organized at the Mymensingh District School Auditorium, the Mayor said that if children are made aware of ways to prevent dengue and what to do in case of dengue, a dengue aware society will be developed. For this purpose we have started school to school awareness campaign. These children will become awareness ambassadors and make their families more aware about dengue. At this time, the mayor called upon the children present to keep their homes and courtyards clean to prevent dengue and to take responsibility for removing water if there is any water in the house and encourage all the families. In addition, the mayor also inaugurated the mosquito-killing crush program along with this program to prevent dengue. Under this plan adulticide and larvicide will be applied in 33 wards of MCC keeping a special focus on each hotspot. The Mayor said that although there is no dengue outbreak in the Mymensingh City Corporation area yet school-based awareness campaigns and crush programs will be conducted as long as the dengue situation persists in the country. It should be noted that in addition to the application of adulticide and larvicide to prevent dengue, miking, distribution of leaflets, and social media are being promoted to increase awareness. Apart from this, Mymensingh City Corporation is conducting an operation to detect dengue larvae. If Aedes mosquito larvae are found in any building or institution, Mymensingh City Corporation will fine it through mobile court. The campaign was presided over by Md Yusuf Ali, Chief Executive Officer of Mosik. On this occasion, Ward Council Niaz Morshed, Shital Sarkar, Councilors of reserved seats Shammi Akhtar Mitu and Hamida Parveen, Chief Health Officer HK Debnath, Medical Officer Dr. Asamul Islam Rupa, Public Health Specialist Dr. Fahmida Islam Lima, other teachers and students of the schools were present. Chattogram Bureau says: Chattogram City Corporation General Hospital of the port city inaugurated the free dengue test by City Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury. The programmme which was inaugurated on Monday , will continue from 9 am to 4 pm every day until the dengue outbreak subsides. The Mayor said that this initiative has been taken so that the poor people are not financially deprived of dengue tests.
This programme will continue until dengue does not decrease and if dengue prevalence increases, free dengue testing program will be started in more hospitals if necessary.
It is not possible to kill mosquitoes by just spraying medicine, public awareness is needed for this. CCC 100-day Crush program incorporates drones to identify Aedes mosquito larvae. Meanwhile yesterday I found a swimming pool on the roof of a multi-storied building in Nashirabad housing society which has not been cleaned in 2 years. Through drones, it is becoming possible to identify and destroy mosquito breeding grounds in such places and rooftops.
CCC Chief Health Officer Dr. Salim Akhtar Chowdhury said that high quality worms have been collected for dengue testing. We will have free dengue test if anyone is infected. He suggested that if the symptoms of dengue appear, instead of taking medicine from the dispensary, get tested directly and get treatment at the hospital.
At this time, the president of the Standing Committee on Health Affairs of CCC Councilor Abdus Salam Masum, Zahar Lal Hazari, Health Officer of CCC Dr. Md. Imam Hossain Rana and others were present.
Meanwhile, CCC Special Magistrate Manisha Mahajan fined 5 house owners a total of 38 thousand rupees for finding mosquito larvae in Agrabad CDA residential area. Besides, the 100-day crush program is running in full swing in the wards.
