Major rivers continue swelling

All the major rivers in the north and north-eastern regions are swelling rapidly, which will continue in the next 72 hours.
According to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) Tuesday’s bulletin, “The Brahmaputra, Jamuna, Ganges and Padma Rivers are in a rising trend, which may continue in next 72 hours.”
Apart from it, the Surma and Kushiyara River in the north-eastern region of the country are in a rising trend too which may continue in the next 48 hours.

According to meteorological agencies, there is a chance of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the northern part of the country and adjoining upstream regions of India in next 48 hours. For this reason, the Teesta, Dharala and Dudhkumar Rivers in these regions may rise rapidly at times during the next 48 hours.

Mehadi Hasan, Assistant Engineer of FFWC under WDB said, “The Teesta River at Dalia point may cross its danger level in the next 24 hours.”
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), fairly widespread

to widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Bihar during next 3 days and isolated heavy rainfall thereafter, while isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Odisha on July 11-15.
