Teen gang rampant in Tangail

It has been alleged that violating the laws and social norms the members of teen gang of Bhuapur upazila in Tangail have become ferociously desperate recently. The people of the areas are suffering immensely due to severe domination among teen groups for political power, eve- teasing, stealing and snatching. As consequences, they are involved in various anti-social crimes renunciation their ethical values.
On the other hand, several local inhabitants with anonymity said that various political figures are using the teen members for their personal and political interest to establish influence in the areas.
On last Thursday afternoon 29 June, following the previous enmity to gain dominance in the areas a teen gang attacked a college student named Sadi and seriously injured him by stabbing near Bhuapur Pilot Government School compound. After that he was admitted to Tangail General Hospital. Following the incident, on July 1, the members of another teen gang had beaten up severely a college student named Harun seriously to take revenge. Later police rescued him and sent him to the hospital for treatment.
A school teacher said with anonymity that day by day the youths of the areas becoming reckless.
As all of them are under the umbrella of political parties, no action can be taken against them. They are dominating the area, molesting girls in front of various educational institutions and involved in snatching.
Mohammad Faridul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhuapur Police Station said that in fact, there is no such thing as a teen gang in Bhuapur. The recent incident is actually an isolated issue.
To stop the teen gang culture at the very beginning from the upazila we are trying to aware the parents through counseling and community beat policing. Apart from these, we are also conducting strict regular operations in different places to eradicate teen gang at the very root.
