Narun Nahar, a successful woman entrepreneur in Ishwardi

Narun Nahar Begum, a village housewife of Ishwardi, is moving forward with a tone of incredible success in the development of agriculture. She has already earned a reputation as a successful female entrepreneur. She has received several medals in agriculture including National Bangabandhu and Bangamata Award and achieved AIP status. She is became a member of the Technical Board of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council of the Ministry of Agriculture. Narun Nahar also went to Sydney, Australia on June 11 to attend an International Meeting on agriculture.
Village housewife Narun Nahar, wife of Rabiul Islam Biswas of Bakhtarpur village of Chalimpur union, is supposed to lead a quiet life within four walls like ten housewives. In 2002, watching television in the house next door, he started his journey by cultivating brinjal on only 10 katha land in the courtyard of the house. Now there is a farm of 120 bighas. Owned 40 bighas of own land. Cultivating on lease at 80 bighas.
As a result of talent, courage and hard work, Narun Nahar is today a special personality in agriculture, a successful entrepreneur and a social development worker. Intensive vegetable farming, fruit farming, fish farming, poultry, dairy and cow farming are encouraging the women of the area to work in agriculture. She has been successful in producing organic and vermicompost fertilizers. Apart from selling organic fertilizers in the local market, they are also supplying to established ACI companies in the country.
She won the City Group Award in 2010 in recognition of his success. In 2012, she received the Bangabandhu Medal as the best woman farmer of the country. In 2016, she received the National Agriculture Gold Medal and the President and Machranga Award as a woman entrepreneur in 2017, attracting the attention of the countrymen. Besides winning gold medal in 2021, Bangamata has been awarded the status of ‘AIP’ as the country’s most important person in agriculture. Women entrepreneur Nurunnahar, chairperson of Jai Bangla Women’s Development Women’s Cooperative Society and NCDP Village Development Committee, is organizing over three thousand women and working to improve their fortunes.
Narun Nahar said that she did not like sitting idly when her husband went out to work. Seeing Shaikh Siraj’s program on agriculture on television made me want to build a vegetable and fruit garden around the homestead. Radish, puishak, brinjal, round potato, onion, garlic, green pepper, whatever he grows in his backyard. In this, even after meeting the demand of vegetables for the whole year, there is an additional income. Although the first husband was upset, he did not object anymore as the burden of running the family was reduced.
Narun Nahar, a mother of four sons, said that in addition to cow, chicken, fish farming, dragon, guava, litchi, papaya, banana, gourd, rice pumpkin, sweet pumpkin, cauliflower, onion, garlic, tomato, potal, brinjal, peas, wheat, Cultivating Potatoes and Muscovy.
