2 accused killers arrested in Bagerhat

Two accused persons were arrested by the police in the early hours of Monday after raiding the different places of the district town in connection with the murder of Shaikh Anwarul alias Ana (50), Office Secretary, Awami League of the Ward No.8 within Bagerhat Pourashava and son of one late Abdul Gani Shaikh of village Purbo Basabati under the Pourashabha. The arrested persons are Kalam Boyati (45) and Abu Bakkar Siddiquee alias Nivas (30). Police of Bagerhat Moddel PS admitted the fact. Kalam Boyati and Abu Bakkar Siddiquee Nivas are the residents of Nager Bazar and Daratan areas of the district town respectively.
It may be mentioned here that on Saturday (June 17) at noon while deceased Awami Leader was returning home after visiting his fish farm in the village Baitpur under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila and reached near the Bhairab Bridge on Bagerhat-Pirojpur Highway an organized terrorists led by Sohel Hawladar alias Kala Sohel, a member of Bagerhat Pourashava Jubo League unit fell on him all on a sudden, beat him mercilessly, broke his hands and legs and left him there fatally injured. Some locals recover the AL leader and sent him to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 4 pm.
In this connection, Mahfuja Begum, wife of late Al leader Shaikh Anwarul alias Ana registered a murder case with Bagerhat Model PS as the plaintiff against 13 persons mentioning their names including Sohel Hawladar alias Kala Sohel, a member Bourashava Jubo League unit as the main accused and unidentified 6 others. Just after filing the case in the PS police conducted a raid in the district town and arrested Kalam Boyati (accused No 3) and Abu Bakkar Siddiquee alias Nivas (accused No.10) who took part in the killing mission of AL leader (Shaikh Anwarul alias Ana).
