4.5 earthquake jolts country

An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck several areas of Bangladesh, including the capital Dhaka on Friday.

The quake was felt around 10.46am at 4.5 degree on Richter scale, according to a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) press release, categorizing it as a light tremor.

The epicenter of the earthquake was identified Golapganj, Sylhet.

According to the press release signed by Farzana Sultana, assistant meteorologist of Agargaon Meteorological Office, the distance of the origin of the earthquake from Agargaon Meteorological Office was 202km northeast.

It was also raining heavily in Sylhet during the earthquake.

People took to social media to report the jolt all across the country.

No damage was reported at the time of filing this report.
